Old story, but here goes. I went into a Subway in the Detroit area back in 2010 and asked if they had any Canadian coins they wanted to get rid of. The cashier cleared it with the manager first, but gave me something like $4.62 in Canadian coins for free.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

I've never had much luck with stores, except that the waitress at my favorite diner will toss me a coin now and then.

Finally get to join this thread. In the inside junk catcher of the coin counter only accessable when the teller opens it with a key:

That's a great pull from just one machine. What kind is it (if you know)?

Something Cummings. Has a lid in the Center, must be closed to run. The coins drop through a sieve onto a plate that spins. It can hold about $350 in quarters or dimes per cycle, and I have run over $1000 in quarters per transaction (no limit per transaction I can see). Very fast, very accurate (I have tested it quite a few times), rejects anything non-Canadian or Non-US including Silver coins and anything even a little bit damaged or bent. Sure makes my coin obsession a lot easier since I had to roll EVERYTHING until these were recently installed.

It was bound to happen sooner or later: I grabbed the wrong coffee can out of the car and dumped a load of Canadian into the machine. And with the worst possible adversarial bank manager looking on, I couldn't scoop them out either

So, depending on tomorrow...I may actually have to take a negative for the week.

I was just getting ready to hit the route when my partner called; weather looks iffy later this week so we went out mowing today to get a headstart. No banking for me.

I'm estimating I lost $3.50 - $5.00 before realizing what was going down the feed ramp. I saved $1.10 of it...so that's my week, $1.10

If it does rain Wed or Thur I may get in a weekday run to make up for the boner. :shifty:
