HIGHLIGHTS OF January's SILVER SEARCHING:
January half searching was about $20000 more than December. In addition, SILVER halves found in January was the best since March 2010, over 10% more than December. $263,362 halves were searched, and 2202 SILVER halves were found. 4.17 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Also, of the 509 half boxes searched, 211 of them were SKUNKS. War Nicks found (26) was 3 less than in December; there were 724 SILVER dimes found (399 more than in November), the most ever reported going back to January 2009; and 1 SILVER quarter was discovered in the wild. db23 had the best reported $500 box in January with 72 SILVER halves. Of all the $1000 half bags searched, Diggin4copper found the most, 181 SILVER halves in a bag in January. adamsp27 found 6 SILVER dimes in a $250 box of dimes, the most for January. hirbonzig found 3 War Nicks in a $100 box of nickels, the best box for January.
On the leadership boards: db23 found the most SILVER halves (587), besting CardNCoins who had 440. HoardCopper ByTheTon found 325 SILVER dimes, besting Dano who was second with 115 of them. Dano found the most War Nicks (6), just edging out agmoose who found 5 War Nicks found during January.
Other highlights are as follows:
1/4 - Heartkill pulls 179 SILVER halves out of 12 rolls of CWRs - a mega score!
1/8 - adamsp27 finds a 1916 Barber dime in a box of dimes.
1/10 - db23 gets 72 SILVER halves in a box of halves.
1/12 - db23 gets 64 SILVER halves in another box of halves.
1/15 - adamsp27 finds 6 SILVER Roosies in a box dimes.
1/16 - Dano gets 115 SILVER dimes from the courtesy desk at a supermarket - WOW!!
1/21 - fasteddy snags 54 40%ers from a bag of halves.
1/21 - hirbonzig finds 3 War Nicks in a box of nickels, best for this month.
1/23 - Diggin4copper gets a dream bag - 177 40%ers, along with 4 90%ers.
1/26 - Country finds a 1916 Barber dime in a box of dimes.
1/26 - db23 finds a 1946 Booker T. Washington and a 1952 George W. Carver in a box of halves.
Heartkill's SILVER haul reported on 1/4/12
It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2012 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2012 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.
