Here's the idea:
List how much Canadian coin you have scored FOR FREE from any source. Primarily, we're talkin' about: banks that have allowed you to clean out their coin counting machines, or having tellers save it for you, or finding them at a CoinStar in the reject slot or on the ground or whatever. But whatever means you have gotten it, it has to have been free. So in short, finding it in a bank bag doesn't count.

I will keep track of it in this first post. Bonus points for silver stuff and pre-Elizabeth coins!

Started off the year at lunch today with $1.50

I forgot to check the reject chute before I began my penny dump, so I do not know exactly how much free coin I got, but it was a lot.

About 1 min into the dump, I stuck my hand in the slot and came back with a handful of canadian clad. A minute later, I did the same and got another handful. This happened several times until the machine was full of pennies.

When the teller opened the machine I told her the reject chute was plugged. She shook it and out tumbled a buch more change.

Here is what I know I got:

62 quarters
28 dimes
17 nickels
25 pennies
Call it $19.35 free canadian.

2 silver roosevelt dimes
4 wheat pennies
an unknown quantity of coper LMC
1 british penny
1 game token
1 german coin.

Wow! We've got a new leader! It'll take me weeks to catch-up to your one stop!

Nice way to start the new year knibloe!! I had the same thing happen to me once, but I came away with a ton of dirty and bent US and lots of tokens. I walked out with more coins than I walked in with. Felt guilty, then I thought of all the times I got shorted on dimes. Hey, better that real centers walk out with this stuff instead of the bank getting cash just for having
malfunctioning machinery.

On one hand you feel a little guilty. On the other hand is the reality that It is really lost coinage and there is no way to tell who it belongs to. I suspect that it came from a large # of people over a period of time. I was in there a week ago and the machine did not seem right. I think that I will count some cents and run them through the next chance that I get. The last time I did this about a month ago, it was very close if not perfect.

The cool thing is that it was a dump from two bags. From the bags I got $20 in copper, $80.02 in zinc, 19.10 in canadian, $5 worth of silver and a few odd foreign coins.

Walked into my mortgage bank and of course, asked for 1/2 dollars and any "big" dollars.

Had $4.50 of (later I discovered nickel clad copper) halves, but also 1 Susan B. Anthony. Bought them all.

Then they asked if I wanted a 10 Yen Japanese coin for free. I said "Sure!" Don't know what it is for sure, has "10" on it then either Japanese or Chinese writing on it. (BTW, how does one find out? Simply google 10 Yen or 10 Yuan and see what you get???)

They then asked if I wanted a Canadian Quarter, again for free. I said "Yes!"

So not horrible day, but no silver.

That will probably work. Or describe it. Is it about the size of a quarter, copper colored, and has a building on the opposite side? Then it's a Japanese 10 yen.

Just got some more free CDN coin again today. Total of 65 cents (1 Q, 3 dimes, 2 Ni nickels)

A single quarter today... $0.25

2 stops today for a total of $5.25 Canadian plus lots of other tokens and foreign. Same branch that always leaves the half bag blocking the chute. I need to go there more often!

First time out since July...I gave up on the bank robbing about the same time I took up golf, but today it was too clammy to hit balls so I did a 9 branch loop. I think the girls missed me.

Also got a steel cent and a mint ball marker from some golf course in MA.
