Opened 16 rolls of pennies today, and ALL 800 were 1982 or older. Let me spew out the numbers before we discuss the 1982s
642 American copper - pre 1982
133 American 1982
25 Canadian copper
Obviously someone turned in a stash as the actual paper wrappers were OLD!!!!! Therefore, I am guessing that most, or maybe even all of the 1982s are copper. HOWEVER, I do not put them in my copper batches. I cash them in except for the beautiful MS condition ones. Those I try to sell, but don't mind keeping them as well. I would estimate that 25 of the 133 from 1982 were MS/unc condition. Also, I have had great success at this particular bank, but it is far away and I only get to it around 3-4 times a year.

75 pct of 82s are copper, I keep them but separate from the other copper cents. Also make sure you look for the rare one, copper 82-D small date I think?

And now the other end of the spectrum: opened 20 rolls today and ALL coins were ZINC. No copper These were CWR's which means competitors junk. Tomorrow I will open Loomis rolls which will mean some copper. Not a lot, but some.

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I awake after midnight, I'm hungry and have to eat a bowl of cereal to get back to sleep.

5 Canadian copper
3 wheats
147 total copper. 7.3 per roll or 14.6 percent

NOTE: the last three rolls had ZERO copper, bringing the average down. Many more rolls to open, the majority of these are Loomis

Opened 47 CWR's yesterday and the day before. These came from 5 different banks, but 20 of them from one bank, and those 20 rolls amped up the numbers. Numbers were:
743 US copper
58 Canada copper
10 wheats
811 Total copper for an average of 17.25 per roll.

ALMOST 35 PERCENT.
Next week the numbers go down some because all I've got is Loomis and String rolls.
