Advantage of Oregon:
-I get 5 cents a can no matter what the aluminum price is
-Also get 5 cents on most glass and plastic bottles

Disadvantages of Oregon:
-Everyone is either a liberal that recycles everything or they are homeless and pick up all the stray cans/bottles for 5 cents, so only cans I get are what I drink.
-Can't crush cans to save space because you need the barcode to get the 5 cents
-Feeding the cans one at a time into the machine is a royal pain in the rear
And he that hath lyberte ought to kepe hit wel
For nothyng is better than lyberte
For lyberte shold not be wel sold for alle the gold and syluer of all the world

I get 10 cents on all aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Amazing how many people throw dimes out the window. If I stop for a whiz on a drive about, it usually nets me 50 cents. Other day I picked up 33 cans and bottles in one stop. Hunters are certainly pigs as they must like clean trucks but like filthy countryside arond here.

lthe 42 years I lived in Vermont , when the bottle bill went into effect saw a dramatic decrease in the bottles and cans. trash remained of course.

my favorite time of year was when the snow melted. I would walk a half mile , picking up stuff, then back the other side of the road. moved the truck and do it again. ]

now that I am in Tucson, the roads are even cleaner, as there are the homeless .

and I am still getting .90 a lb.

How long did it take you to accumulate the 208 lbs?

6 weeks,. but I take in cans from the DAV and VFW. in addition to the ones I find. it is a win win., it helps my volume /price, and gives them more money than if they took them in themselves. not to mention the hassle.

Called the local yard here in Eastern NC and offer was $.41 a lb. I think I'm going to hold and keep crushing.

That is probably close to the best you can find in Indiana. The math is always different in a state with a deposit or a state close to a deposit state.

We are recycling our aluminum cans that we use. It takes us awhile to get two bags--not crushed--to take to the recycler. We don't make a special trip as it is on the way to see Mr. PTP's mom in the nursing home. I know a couple of weeks ago the price was in the 30 cent range here in Central Florida.

Welcome to the market the rest of us have been facing, and at a lower price than 55 cents. Seems like the California crackdown on Arizona UBC smugglers is taking effect.

Yes the CRV crackdown is effecting the market here. It seems like more places are agreeing on a price and everyone pays the same. They no longer need to pay high prices to get there customers the days of $1.10 a pound are gone forever around here.

Price fixing, or something close to it, does seem to go on everywhere. I have toyed with the idea of starting a scrap yard with much more generous payouts than the "fix" and in theory sucking all the scrap going to the other nearby yards. Slimmer margins but great volume.
