OK, thanks. That makes as much sense as anything I could think of, couldn't see why it would matter to anyone...we don't have can deposits here yet (PA).

This is a silly gimmick with this particular scrap yard to say that 30 cents is the normal price for UBC and that 45 cents is their special offer. Give me a break, these middlemen should be offering a minimum of 60 cents for <<clean>> aluminum. Spot is at 80 cents. http://www.klewtv.com/news/local/Can-Day-300996801.html

I have heard that un smashed cans make better bales at the scrap yard, when they make them.

Ashland, VA 33 cents a pound today.
Only had 32 pounds but, luckily, I had 660 pounds of cast iron (80 year old radiators) at 4.5 cents a pound.

I need to check current prices tomorrow. My guess is around 1:57 per pound. I am a hoarder, not a seller.

Hello fellow hoarder. However I would be tempted to sell some at 1.57, three times the going rate in the non-redemption states like mine and twice the spot price.

Well, I still pick them up from the curbs and highways when I'm walking the dog, but aluminum (and now my wallet) is in the doldrums. I must have about 15 lbs of cans to cash in. So... do I go to the close one (less than 2 miles) for $0.39/lb or drive an extra 4 miles to get $0.46/lb? Either way, the price stinks from $0.64/lb not too long ago. The closer one wins.
