Scrap lawnmowers an motors??

Postby Rosco » Sun Oct 06, 2013 10:50 pm

Is the block on a old Kawasaki gas motor Alum or Pot metal?
Not able to remove attachment that held blade,to separate the Case half's to get to connecting rod. Could torch the shaft an then separate the Steel from the pot metal. I broke fin from block an it seems too light to be Alum
Have another alum deck mower to separate and they have been Rusting for 4 + years :?:

Thanks Guys

I try an put them in with my dirty alum pile for .25 a pound sometimes they take them out and put in the alum transmission pile for .15 a pound. Either way better than steel price of .08

They can also be a magnesium alloy. Still, price is same as dirty aluminum.
