Are star notes worth keeping?

Postby chris819 » Sun Dec 13, 2015 11:30 pm

I am new to paper money and wondering if star notes are worth saving? So far I only have 13 star $1 notes. Also how can I tell if a certain one is harder to find then other?

Also I have these and I think these are lower but not sure

$1 2009 J00117619*
$1 2013 B03250500*

Thanks for the help

I too have been curious about the star notes and await a response.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

I keep them all as well. There are books on collecting paper money that tell the amount of notes printed and the approximate value. Generally all star notes are small quantities printed.

Generally star notes aren't worth anything unless they are in great shape.

To find the mintage of each star note or regular note use this website.

Thanks for the great website. I found a few answers to some questions that I had on various topics. The production figures are up to date and more accurate than the books that I have.
