I can and will post any pics of my above coins once back in my hands for anyone that wants to see them.

No 65s. Figured that. This was a low end submission of Morgans.

Results posted for each coin in main post.

My thoughts on the results of this submission: Overall I believe the results were favorable. I correctly graded 9 coins, under graded 12 coins, and over graded 4 coins. I interpret this to be a sign that I am pretty spot on with a tendency to under grade just a bit. Not sure why PCGS graded that 91-S genuine (cleaned). I will have to inspect it further when it returns home. Looking forward to submission #3’s results. There will be some dandys in that lot.

Ha! Now you will have to wait forever for them to be delivered... kinda makes you wish you went with the FedEx overnight, huh? Great job on the grading, but did you notice the same pattern that I see?

New Orleans minted Silver Dollars are typically weakly struck. I don't know what the difference was between that mint and San Francisco, which typically made very well struck Silver Dollars. Typical weak features are in the center of the coin... Liberty's ear and the Eagle's breast. From any other mint, weakness in these details would be considered as a downgrade, or a hurdle to getting a higher grade. But, the New Orleans mint gets away with weakly struck dollars because that's just the way they were made. If you didn't see the pattern before, do you see it now?

Also, even though the Carson City Mint typically made coins with very good strike, the grading services seem to be a little more lenient on accounting for bag marks. A 'P' with the same bag marks that a 'CC' has might not get the same grade.

In any regards, those are some nice coins... congrats on the great buys!

Darn coin 4 of lot one was an NGC crackout. NGC had it at a MS-64. I had a buddy crack it out and submit it to PCGS for me. It came back Genuine Cleaned. I then Recracked it and resubmitted it to PCGS and got the new designation of Genuine altered surfaces. Time to retire this one into the hoard. It had its chance(s). It's a darn shame too....Its a great coin with the lightest "thumb rub" ever.

I will post pics of some of the coins as the come back. As for what the 1899-P is worth....who knows? It is a coin that I will not be able to get my mony back out of thats for sure. I do belive submitted to NGC or ANACS would get it holdered MS-64 to MS-65. I may do that someday. But as of now, it can just chill out in the safe for a little while.

Yes MH, the O mint's press must have been mule powered while the San Fran mint used thermo-nuclear power for theirs  . The two CC dollars were from GSA holders. I did crack them out before submission so the "GSA" pedigree will not be listed on the labels.

Lot #3 is mostly morgans that I purchased raw off the floor of the Monroeville coin show last month. There is a ANACS crack out that I purchased from Market Harmony's booth (at a fair price). If I recall correctly it was holdered as 1880-S MS-66. Overgraded in that holder but it should be a solid MS-65 at PCGS.

I really like the toning on those Morgans. There is something to say about coins that remain in unmolested condition for a period of time and to be in the right environment to develop an attractive patina... The collectability of these kinds of coins makes them scarce on the bourse floor.

Segue into this:

I think it is an easy MS65 RB :D And I'm taking offers, but not in any kind of hurry to sell this beauty.

I'll be adding this picture to your "who's a sucker.." thread

Maybe a few bulls eye style toners. I am scared of monsters....monster toners that is

Yeah happy as can be with myself. I have more confidence in my grading now. It’s good to be a conservative grader, and I feel like I am hitting that goal consistently. This last group was from an 8hr “working the floor” shift at the last Monroeville, PA coin show. It’s nice to see that every coin I purchased graded without a hold up. I wish I would have paid more attention to what I spent so I could have an idea to whether or not this endeavor was profitable. I was too focused on buying original, clean, honest, sexy eye appeal morgans. I do know I only paid MS 65 prices for one coin. The crack out PCI I purchased from Market Harmony. It was holdered 66 but we both knew it would cross at 65. Sure enough it did. Let that also be a testament to the honesty and fairness of Mike.

Great eye, Chris. You should be happy with the results. :D It's good to hear about the crossover 65.

47 total
20 correct
19 under graded by you
6 over graded by you
2 were cleaned

Those are great numbers.

Got any nice raw 'O' mints in MS63 that you keep tripping over? :P

Fees are costly.....that is for sure. But you can make it work for you if you buy the right coins for the right price.
