Truman dollar

Hard to believe we're already up to Harry on the release schedule. Seems like the Washington and Adams dollars weren't that long ago (2007)

Next year: Nixon and Ford

You have to be dead to be on a coin. The living can be on a stamp.

The program's end
The act specifies that for a president to be honored, the former president must have been deceased for at least two years before issue.[8][9] It will take about ten years from the start to honor all 39 eligible presidents. The series will end in 2016, now only one year away, after honoring Ronald Reagan, since neither Ronald Reagan's immediate predecessor, Jimmy Carter, nor any of Reagan's successors are eligible, all of whom were still living on January 1, 2015. On February 12, 2015 the US Mint confirmed that President and Mrs. Reagan will be getting coins in 2016 in a letter to Representative William P. Huizenga (R-MI).[10] The Mint also stated the work had started on designs for the Reagan coins.[10]

This is Obama we're talking about. Normal rules don't apply. 10 seconds after he kicks the camel some inconsolable Sharpton-like congressperson will call for an immediate National recognition of the first AfroAm President, and nobody in a white face will have the stones to disagree. The Great Kenyan will replace Hamilton on the $10 note in such speedy manner as to make the JFK coronation in coin seem slow.

Two years? Nah...I'm thinking 4 weeks.

Sucks that you have to pay more than face for these! Was cool when you could get a roll from the bank, not order from the mint...

Yeah, another failed dollar coin.

For some reason my little credit union was getting in tons of rolls the first few years. They are quite happy the program ended, for all practical purposes.

It was even cooler when you could order rolls of these from the mint at face value with free shipping. They had a program that subsidized the costs to try to get more people to use them. I put a lot of these "golden" dollars into circulation when they had that going..
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
