Boiling culls.

Postby henrysmedford » Sun Jul 28, 2013 8:03 pm

The other day my wife was out of town (the only time I would try this) and we got a large amount of coins that were stuck together from Franklin's coin counter finds and we thought what if we boil them to get them unstuck. It works great the gummed up stuck together coins come right apart. So we will be cashing on this one. Might be time to get a yard sale pan.

Have you tried 'freezing' stuck together coins?

Freeze 'em and then smack 'em. or bounce them off a hard surface to separate.

That might work as well for certain types of 'stuck together'

I would pour out the hot water then take the paste and see if I could glue two bricks together! Looks like some kind of crazy super glue

I have a grilling recipe around here somewhere. I hear they deep fry them in the South.

I'll bet that pot stinks like hell.
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

Only after they are battered. Served up with grits.

I can see it now.....

Halloween .. Joe goes out in the back yard ... stokes up the cauldron .. proceeds to boil a years worth of culls .. cackling all the while as the fumes waft over the area.

WHAT A VISUAL.

Don't tell your wife! You are also going to eat food from those too. Not trying to rain on the boy's night chemistry experiment. I'm sure it was fun.

I would have at least used a pan from the "scrap pile", neighbors have gotten rid of some
aluminum pots and pans, I scooped those, also my parents gave me any old pans they got
rid of. Not really enough to take in as scrap aluminum yet, so I've been piling them up with
other aluminum odds and ends.

I guess you don't scavenge scrap like some of the rest of us here do.
