2 Dollar bills

Postby Elcid69 » Sun Apr 18, 2021 7:23 pm

I can't find any uncirculated $2.00 dollar bills / uncut sheets.
Does the Treasury still print these, if not when did they last print, on their Web it only states "unavailable."

Have you asked for new bills at the bank?

Round here they are a favorite for grandchildren's birthdays. They generally keep a large stock of crisp new ones. The most recent date I know is 2013.
Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

I'm looking for crisp "uncirculed", about 25 or so, they seem pretty pricey on Ebay or Amazon - any idea of price?

Series 2017A have been printed for all branches except Atlanta and San Francisco. You should be able to get them at any bank and the tellers are usually glad to get rid of them. Sometimes it is hard to get crisp notes. My bank usually has new straps of them around Christmas time.

I get them at my bank pretty regularly. Sometimes they have crisp new ones. Those I keep. The circulated ones I usually spend. The branch manager likes them so they usually have a surplus in the vault if you want more than the few they might have in a tellers drawer.

I have/had a pack or consecutive serial number at the house...I will check and see if they are still there. My wife gives them out for birthdays so she may have given them away.

I find that the older folks know what they are and say nothing. The younger folks ask if it is real or call the manager to see if they can accept them.

I buy 3-10 of them per week at various banks. I like to spend them, but I keep the 1953 (red label). I have only found three of the 1953, two of them were last September. I see them on Apmex right now for 7-26 dollars each depending on condition.

I don't really get the fascination with them other than they are oddballs. I have some and keep asking myself why I keep them.

Nothing inherently oddball about them except that cash drawers weren't designed with enough spaces to include both them and singles, so they never caught on. If they had released a decent dollar coin and gotten rid of the single bill, they would have caught on just fine.

Don't know why they keep pushing the dollar coins too when it's obvious that people don't want them. We're not Europe, lol.

IMHO- paying a premium for an uncut sheet of $2 bills is like paying extra for a 1964-D quarter because it is MS-66 or slabbed. Just not worth it.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

I've never seen an uncut sheet of bills (any denomination), and I probably wouldn't pay a premium either. However, older paper money does carry a premium, especially in nice condition. We are not talking HUGE premiums (ie . 1931 S penny) , but definitely above face for red labels. I sometimes use "common" $2 bills at flea markets and garage sales. I've only had one "complaint".

I have 3 uncut sheets of $10 bills. Had them for at least 20 years. I think they are star notes also.
