True ZINCOLN?

Postby uthminsta » Mon Oct 18, 2010 11:21 pm

Got this in a $10 sort... it was completely black when I found it except for the high points which were gray. So I washed it a little bit with warm water and some of the black came off. I had expected to see copper coloring beneath that, but it was just more gray. I really want to get under all that blackness and see what this coin really is! It's not entirely without copper coating, as there is SOME evident on the rim. But the brown you see on the fields is dirt, not copper. But still... hmm...
