It is worth looking through your bulk purchases

Hello everyone,

I have been active lately at purchasing bulk pennies and nickels in order to boost my exchangeable stash in my newly formed LCC.

To tell you the truth, I have been quite lucky. Here are the finds, that with the permission of natsb88 (the seller), I discovered in my lots:

Out of 199 George V nickels I found:
- In my opinion 10 coins were EF-type quality (1922, 1923, 1924, 1927, 1928x2, 1929, 1931, 1933, 1934) with three bordering AU.
If I had to purchase them at a dealer, these coins have a retail value (not to a dealer but ...) that ranges from 8-40$.

- In my opinion 22 coins were VF-type quality. These coins have a retail value between 2$-6$ each.
- In my opinion 36 coins were F-type quality. These coins have a retail value between 0,75 - 2$ each.
- In my opinion 130 coins were G-type quality (typical bullion-coins). These coins have a retail value between 0,25-0,50 cents each.
I found no key dates (1925, 1926 (with its two varieties)) and I found a 1965 AU amongst the stack.

I think I have a retail value of roughly 420$ and if I were to sell them to a dealer I could get probably a third, around 140$. I am very happy about those coins.
They have been hoarded quite a few years ago, and many did not see a lot of action. Not that I want to sale any of them because they will give me good exchange material.

Out of 170 George V pennies I found:

I found one key coin: 1 x 1923 but with a small spot of vertigris (-20%)
I found a couple semi-key coins: 1 x 1922, 1 x 1926 (also with vertigris - 30%), 1 x 1927
These puppies would have costed me a total of 75$ at a dealer.

In my opinion, a total of 3 coins were AU (1920, 1921 and 1932) for about 25$ all together
In my opinion, a total of 11 coins were EF, with one red-toned for about a cost of 40$
In my opinion, a total of 39 coins were VF, at 1$ a piece for 39$
In my opinion, a total of 33 coins were F, at 0,50$ a piece for 16,50$
In my opinion, a total of 30 coins were G, at 0,25$ a piece for 7,50$
In my opinion, a total of 51 coins had problems (vertigris, varnish) but cleaned will fetch 10 cents a piece: 5$

At a dealer these would have costed me $209. Again, they provide good exchange material for my collection.

Cheers,
Common sense should prevail if not, misery will.

Looking through bulk purchases is always my "exit strategy" in case I lost my ability to make income my current way (programming).

I have a few bulk purchases hanging around and piecing them out for a profit would be mild-fun and hopefully pay the bills for a while :)
