Antique mall "Set" of 1967

Postby Rodebaugh » Wed Oct 12, 2011 8:26 am

So I was in the antique mall yesterday and happend to see a 1967 "set" of canadian coins. Normaly I would just see a bunch of 80% discs hanging out with some .999 base metals.......but this set was different. It was an "after market ghetto" set put together from BU coins by some company... lord knows how long ago. Anyway.....These coins looked FANTASTIC......I'm a tone lover.....and man o man did these coin have it. Whatever "mint" packaged these coins for resale did so using an acid based paper that, over time, made these coins get that bullseye POP.

Well at $55 USD I walked.....but have been haunted since by their beauty.

So what do you guys think......get some pics.....buy them.....forget it?

Set included 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100

1.1 oz silver, official mint sets going for $40/$50. If they were that nice I would've bought them.

edit)...funny, a couple hours after I posted here I got a winning bidder email from ebay for a '67 set. I must have thrown out an early, low bid a while ago. $33 with shipping...but not toned.

Sounds to me like you have a silver addiction, go ahead and buy it. You know you won't feel settled until its in your possession.

Some 67s are 50%. Not all are 80%

When I buy I useually ask for 66 and before just to make sure

Go ahead and buy them already.

If you develop buyer's remorse next week, I'll double your investment in the set.

Well, I'll check it out again today......as noted before it's not realy a "silver play" more as it is a "man these coins are ultra sexy" play.

I tried to get a set at the local shop's bid board. I was outbid. Oi!

Good luck and hope you get it!

I have a couple of the RCM sets with the $20 gold. The silver coins do tone really well, but I still cannot fathom why the RCM put them open and loose in that padded case. No plastic, nothing.

Well today.....I did it. I purchased the set I was talking about back in October of 2011.

Still not a silver play....more of a "man thats a pretty set of coins play"

Nice enough to have the half, quarter, and dime graded by pcgs.

The quarter is very attractive.

Photos, please. :)

With all my CRH finds, I have been expanding my Canadian sets in the last 6 months and am really starting to dig them. I really like the large pennies too (1858-1920).
