10oz Silver Towne

10oz Silver Towne

Postby Silverfondler » Sun Feb 02, 2014 5:05 pm

I have recently been searching for 10oz bars. When I started to research to 10oz Hand poured silver towne piece. I noticed all of the older pieces were stamped with a serial number. All the new pieces I have seen around - including on eBay. Do NOT have a serial number.

Is this a fake? Or is this just how they are made now?

You are correct that Silvertowne 10 t oz hand poured loaf bars do not have serial numbers, but the regular quillotine cut bars do have serial numbers.

UPDATE: Many of you may already know this but just an FYI; Silver Towne no longer puts serial numbers on their 5 or 10 ounce bars. They told me a few months ago their dies were being replaced for each design as each one wore out. I believe they are all now without serial numbers. The old ones did have them, but the new ones don't.
