Running anywhere from 20 to 30 percent here in SW Missouri. Im thinking that with this new bill coming up wanting to change the pennys and nickels to steel coins that theres many of us who will wish we started this sorting thing a LONG LONG time ago.

23 - 26% where I'm at in Central Illinois. The percentage always jumps this time of the year with folks
dumping their change jars and cleaning up the floorboards in their cars. Not unusual to get bags that run
30 - 35% December through the middle of January.

I don't keep detailed records but it seems like I'm getting about 20%. The copper percentage is down a little from when I started a year ago.

This week was almost exactly 29% copper. About average for what I get in my String boxes (200 FV per week) When I get other random stuff from credit unions that I happen to be near, I'll get something in the 25-35 range. Usually still a hair under 30.

But the last 2 Brinks plastic wrapped boxes were skunks so I am steering clear of those for a while!

In Parts Unknown it runs between 20% to up to 30%. Sometimes you get the old shoe with rolls mostly 2010-2011. Other times you seem to get Grandma's ole coffee can change. Just happened the other day, picked up $30 in CWR, over 60% copper as many rolls were all copper.

so far about 13% to 15% here in South Louisiana. I would flip if I got over 20%. I am thinking a map of the US with pin points with peoples percentages would be very useful. IF I only had the time to make it.

In Southern WI, rolls run between 20-30% pretty regularly. My primarily searched loomis rolls are all over the place, sometimes great, sometimes half the box will be more like 15-20%.

Canadian chiming in here. Grabbed one box from one bank and one box from a different one to make sure I got a good blend from Calgary Alberta.

Out of 100 rolls:

58 were steel Canadians, zinc Canadians and zinc Americans. I just lump all of these into one category as "throwbacks".

23 rolls of 1982 to 1996 Canadian copper (2.5 gram 98% copper)

15 rolls of pre-1981 Canadian copper (2.8 to 3.2 gram 98% copper, basically equivalent to pre-1981 US pennies)

2 rolls of pre-1981 American copper.

2 rolls of ickies (unreadable), foreigns and a few dimes.

So, the copper percentages are still very high up in the north at 42%. I don't think many up here are hoarding pennies. Pure Nickels are about 11% by comparison (should be 33% just based on natural dilution of copper nickels and steel nickels) So people have hoarded about 2/3rds of the pure nickels already.

400 rolls of pennies, 20,000 pennies total sorted

6247 (31.235%) brass pennies total, broken down as follows:

1373 (6.865%) Canadian dated 1942-1977 (98% copper, 0.5% tin, 1.5% zinc);

4558 (22.79%) Canadian dated 1978-1996 (98% copper, 1.75% tin, 0.25% zinc); and,

I am usually around 34%, my low is 26%, the high was 44%, these were all sealed String boxes. I get all my pennies from the same bank I dump at, I just reroll, and then tape the box shut, My mom is the branch manager, so I stop by her house on the weekend, and load up her truck, and she brings in the Zincs for me, and then I pick up the boxes on Tuesday's.

My best Cwr's was a time I got $25 and only 6 coins weren't copper, which was great, it was just strange, because the 6 zincs, were all 2010, and the other 2496, were all from the 30's through the 70's. Usually CWR's I am around 30%

I'm usually in the 19-23% range here in sunny FL. I do better in Dec-April when the snowbirds are down. Canadian percentages seem higher then too.

This thread is quite a bump, but okay. Here in Texas, where everything is known to be bigger with the one exception of copper cent percentages, I'm raking in an average of around 16%.

It is still bigger in TX.. the zinc returns that is.

In northern CA it is running 19-20%.. So I "just sort more!"

Sorted 10 bags last week. averaged about 19%

Yesterday I sorted 2 bags and got 23+ %

My new years resolution is to keep better track of my sorting. Anyone out there have a spreadsheet that they use and want to share?

Hi everybody. Here's my geeky chart of percentages of my latest $25 bank box (DFW Area). I keep the 2009's too. They seem to be disappearing very fast from circulation.
