Stamped Cents

Does anyone else come across these while sorting? If so do you keep any?

I have found a few of these as well. I'll try to post some pics tonight. I have a dish specifically for these at my sorting station.

I for sure keep them. Heck, they only cost you one cent. I've come across 6 or so in the past year. Three of those were the Kennedy facing Lincoln's.

I really like them. I don't find very many though. I sorted ten dollars tonight and I found a clover stamped one. It was kinda funny because I read this thread before I sorted them and thought to myself "I haven't found one of those in a long time." Sure enough it was like the second roll and there it was! I thought about collecting them but they seem way overpriced when ever I see any for sale.

Wow, I must be lucky because I think that I have all of the ones mentioned here so far. Too busy to post pics last night, I'll try to get to it later.

Here is a pic of what I found. I have some more stashed somewhere. If I come across them I'll put up another pic. I don't know anything about the pricing or history of these. I just hold on to them all since they are neat (and possibly of value). I have a lot of stuff that needs to be looked at in more detail and researched for possible value. But I am just too busy plowing through as many cents as possible with my spare time. All this odd stuff can be evaluated once the copper supply starts to dry up. Sort on!

I've gotten three with states stamped, FL, NJ and NY and one with the # 10 stamped into it this year. I sold the NJ and NY pennies for .50 to a guy who I work with who wanted them, offered me a buck for the pair. I had one of Lincoln smoking a pipe a couple years back, don't know what happened to it.

I find them here in Southern Illinois quiet often. I used to put them in 2x2 but started getting so many I quit doing that. I really don't know how many I have.

Just found one last night that says Gemini and has an image of twins. I want to make a RonPaul penny punch and start stamping a few in each of my zinc dumps :)

Or I could stamp them "Copper Pulled" and then have the realcent logo underneath and then we can see who finds the first one. hummm... that might make for a good contest.

The trivia of the stamped pennies is probably interesting.

Re: Stamped Cents

Postby dirty fingers » Sun Nov 10, 2013 8:00 pm

found a stamped quarter yesterday. It was in about $220 of quarters I dumping. This one showed up in the reject bin.

This one has had letters stamped in the back. The letters do line up to the eye, but under magnification, you can tell they were stamped one by one. And there was a slight bluge on the face (likely why it rejected)

The stamped saying is:

SHE SHOT ME
IN THE ASS!

It made my daughter (18 yr old) smile a bit when she saw it. Not quite as wild as that 'frisco' cent posted lately, lol, but the first I have seen like this. I have seen many fair tax quarters, but not a stamp like this.

I have found a couple of pennies with states stamped on them, two depicting the sports of football and baseball and the most recent is the cross stamped out as above.
