Sorters in the Western PA Area

Postby AlexTG » Sat Oct 23, 2010 1:39 pm

So, I was just wondering what everyone else in this area gets percent wise on their copper searches.

25% seems to be about normal, but according to other on this forum 25% is high(ish)

Just wondering if Western PA is a copper hot-bed.

25% is normal for that region. In CA we only get 20%.. so we "just sort more."

I imagine you have a giant map that displays where are the best places to sort?

A "war" map so to speak.

Finding 30% in Buffalo, NY on average. Just scored $30 in CWR rolls with 63% including 47 wheats and 154 old copper Canadians. The teller thanked me for taking them off her hands. Earlier in the week I must have taken part of them and found 96 wheats including one solid roll. Property taxes were due last week so some seniors must have been scrounging up cash. Some neat old faded pink wraps from the sixties. Sounds like I'll skip picking up rolls on my Erie and Pittsburgh trips.

Im getting about 26 to 33 percent on boxes from PNC in Pittsburgh, but i did get one box that was all skunks except the 1982s so whoever dumped it was date/hand sorting and didnt take 1982s all the copper pennies in my accept bin from the sorter I made were 1982s or dirty abes. Where in PA r u and do you want any coppers from me I got buckets of them that I need/want to move so I can pay some bills/ buyu some silver.

I know of such a map. Alas, knowing where the best percentages in the country are does me little good. You can only sort.. where ya are.

South Hills Pgh ~ 25%
Soooo... Is it just me or is a chart of US debt looking dangerously parabolic?

Although I live in northern W.Va., I occasionally go to Turtle Creek in Allegheny County (near Pittsburgh), and regularly find about 28% copper from the banks there (I am a hand sorter who doesn´t save 1982´s), which is about what I find in my part of W.Va.

Counting the 1982 coppers (which I weigh) I'd say that I average close to 30%.
