Currency Debasement Website

Postby OtusLotus » Wed Jan 18, 2012 4:02 pm

This site, has been recommeneded here several times in the past, and I do like the website for their analysis of past and current coins' metal content.

However, after looking at the Canadian 1-cent, the composition for the 1920-1941 is listed as 98% Copper, 3% Tin, 1.75% Zinc. Obviously this is more than 100%.

I tried to send an email to the site to inform them, but I kept getting an error message that I needed to input my email address, but there wasn't any place for me to enter it.

So, I am writing this in the hopes that either someone here either knows personally, knows how to contact, or the webmaster is a visitor to this site and can correct these errors.

Thanks for heads-up. I will look into it, probably a data entry error. I will also ask the admin to look into the comment issue. Thanks!

I'm no fiscal theorist. In nice, short, bite sized pieces, please.. how bad is the currency debased? And what would be needed to fix it?

Roosevelt debased the currency from 100% to 40%.

Johnson debased the coinage from 90% to 0.

Nixon debased the currency from 40% all the way to 0.

I sent him a PM about it. He said it would be awhile before it got back up and going....I didn't think it would be this long.

Maybe he will see this and comment.

Makes me wish I had printed out a bunch of the pages. That was a good resource.
