Copper pennies in hard plastic tubes sold to me from bank

Postby Pennysaved » Thu Dec 09, 2010 7:11 pm

I went into one of my half pick up banks and they didnt have any halves today.

However, I noticed in the teller's tray hard plastic tubes and looked like there were solid coppers in there.

I asked the teller if he would sell me those and he said yes. He said all the pennies there were turned in by an elderly male and that he opened one of the rolls and there were some wheat cents.

I bought them all of course; haven't went through them yet. It was only $9.50 face

But I was really excited when I saw those hard plastic tubes and solid coppers.

Well seeing the plastic tubes made me think someone turned in their penny collection

dude, don't sort them.

Sell them here as "unsearched"

OK, I will bid/pay/contribute $13.50 and pay for shipping. You then ship them to whomever is going to run a Holiday Giveaway on the RealCent site this year.
The winner(s) just have to let us all know what they got. You can have a family member still go thru them first, if you wish, for something like a Svdb or the like. Still then can call them what I see on Ebay often "rolls unsearched, at least by me" in the gift description.

Well be glad I searched them; the wrapped rolls were not too impressive; there were only a couple wheats per roll; granted the copper % was slightly higher than usual but there were some zincs in there too

The 4 plastic tubes had solid BU copper cents 63 D, 59 D, 59 D, 61 D, 64 D

I know the coin store usually tries to sell those at a small premium

Oh well, its good you did it then. Still a pretty good find tho. Is anyone running the holiday giveaways this year on the site? I have found a few things I am willing to contribute over this past year.

Yes. Look around and you'll find it. Hook up with copper catcher I'm sure he'll be glad to accept your contributions.

Can you send me the link. I did look around, did not find anything and then I tried to find the holiday thing by using a member copper catcher search within his/her posts and still did not find anything. Honest, I do not see anything for this year, which is kinda unusual for this site & I really would like to contribute.
