What to do with all the Shield pennies?

Postby newton7 » Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:15 pm

Ok, I was happy when I started sorting copper in 09 to got boxes of the new series, and when 2010 rolled around I got boxes of new shield pennies but now we are about to reach the end of the year and from time to time I still get new boxes. Brown rappers, white string rappers, and plastic brinks rappers. I traded off some and sold others but have started to reach overflow status.

My question is, what do you do with all the extra shields? I hate to just crack the rolls and dump them in the counter.

What are you doing with the extras?

I was thinking of returning them but I have acquired several String boxes and figure someone somewhere would want to get some. I was going to eBay but I hate the fees now. Would like to trade a large amount if someone wanted to make a deal. If not, some of these will have to go somewhere.

The sorry thing is my banks don't want to take rolled coins for fear of getting shorted. They all send them out loose to be counted, even when I bring in a new box. Seriously, one day I brought in a new box and the teller stated she would have to unroll all 50 rolls so she could send them out to be counted.

Anybody wanna do a ten box trade? More than ten? Less?

I like the Christmas idea to.
