They are gonna be the same. The bags are picked up by an armored car service then ran through a machine to roll them. They are then sent back out to the banks.

Bag - Open and pour.

Boxes - Open box. Remove rolls. Remove pennies from rolls ( time consuming ) THEN you get to start sorting.

don't forget the dimes in the bags and other treasures....very seldom find dimes in the rolled boxes....last night it took me 15 minutes to open two boxes of the poly tube pennie rolls...pretty fast IMO...I hate the paper rolls. O where O where are the pennie bags in Houston?

I agree bags are the only way to go if you have the choice. As Eddy says you never know what else you are going to find in bags. I have found everything from silver to earrings. And they are so much faster to work with.

Some bags are really low on copper if you got someone dumping in your bank. I've been finding that out here and there. I'll pick bags anyday because you never know when jr. is going to cash daddy's funny old pennies. Gonna go grab '2' bags here in a little bit...I'll post here for you with the copper results later tonight. You can always take a look in the tracking thread section for hand sorting....lots of bags with their copper percentages. Judge for yourself. It's good reading, too!

I've always used rolls, because nowhere local has the bags. I like the rolls because it's easier to handfeed into the Axcent/Frakensorter. Takes me literally 2 seconds to open the poly rolls and have then all stacked in one hand. But if I had an Apprentice, I'd rather have bags.

Yes, they have surprises. I pre run mine through a high speed counter. It gets the dimes out, along with the problem pennies. ( bent, stuck together, etc )

I ran 800.00 in loose yesterday. Anyone really enjoy opening 1600 rolls?

BAGS!!! :P

Easy to open, bonus dimes, no copper difference between them and rolls.

I combined a partial bag today with a string box...copper percentages were in the low 30's, a little above average. But the bag had more wheats. 37 wheats total...with at least 25-26 coming from the bag. The bag had more Canadian copper, too!
