Canvas Coin bags

Postby Ethon » Thu Dec 23, 2010 4:10 pm

Hey guys i was wondering where the best spot to buy canvas coin bags are? I like using them to put my zincs in for dumping, and storing my coppers. I was using my dads old ones but I'm out now and was wondering a good spot to get them. I would also like to hear what you guys use to put your zincs in for dumping (I dump in machine).

The bank lady gave me one of those zipperred money bank bags.
Thats what I use and it works well. It will hold a lot of them ($40-50?) and the zipper prevents any spills.

I dump mine at coinstar also.
My, you have a lot of coins! Please wait while we catch up.

I started using the small canvas tote bags the food store started selling as an alternative to paper plastic bags. They come with canvas handles and are easier to handle than a draw string type bag. The best part, all were free from stores or given to me as promo items when something new came out or anew place opened. They are getting harder to find now since a lot of stores now promote the reusable heavy plastic bags.

I use pants legs. I have made my own (actually, I asked my mom to do the sewing) heavy duty bags made out of the bottoms of legs of trashed jeans, closed by velcro. They are easy to make. Cut off about the bottom 18" of the jeans leg and turn it inside out. Sew the end of the leg that you cut off together then sew velcro on the outside of the other end of the pant leg (this will have the cuff, sew just below that and the cuff will give you something to grip to open the bag up). Turn it inside out again and the velcro (bag sealer) will now be on the inside. You now have a sealable heavy duty dump bag. It will easily hold two boxes of halves. Great for using for other things, and gets you more use out of those denim jeans.
