Copper to 5.60?

Postby Finder » Mon Jan 03, 2011 9:44 am

"Given that total copper stocks will be falling, not rising, in 2011 and 2012, the upside potential for prices is explosive," somewhere in the $4.50 to $5.60 per pound range, Hollands said in an interview via e-mail."

By the end of 2012, I bet it'll be far, far past $5.60.

The value is in the metal and not in the paper.

Mr. O, you should make another copper spot contest for January 1, 2012, and I promise not to guess $5.60. ;)

The price of CU will be increased by energy costs as well. As oil prices rise over $100 and beyond, the overhead costs for copper producers will rise. Same thing with the recycling industry. So in addition to inadequate supplies to meet demand, you also have production cost increases. I'm just wondering how long it will take before it hits the $10 mark, in this environment of competitive currency devaluation that's taking place around the globe.

And I wonder when copper will start to change hands by the troy ounce, instead of being priced by the pound? I think this will happen in the next 10 years.

Seems to be consolidating in the 420-430 area lately.

I miss the 440s but seems strong above the 4 mark, thats good.

Need construction to pick up, houses have 100s of lbs of copper.
