Copper thief shot twice in leg (thievery thread)

ST. LOUIS, Jan 06, 2011 (St. Louis Post-Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The alleged copper thief who was shot by a St. Louis man Tuesday is now charged with burglary and property damage.

Brandon L. Beckless, 23, of the 8500 block of Lowell Street, was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary and second-degree property damage. He was being held on $25,000 bond.

Police say Beckless was shot twice in the leg at about 7:50 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 4300 block of Shreve Avenue. Police say Beckless had burglarized the home to steal copper pipes in the basement.

A man, 41, who was living at the home on Shreve woke up when he heard noises in the basement and went to investigate. He shot the burglar during a struggle over the resident's gun. Police say there was a second burglar, who has not been arrested.

That man deserves a Buds 2nd Amendment Copper Oz.

Ya know, I was just thinking. What if the bullet were partially made out of silver/gold? Do you think it would be out of line for the would-be thief to ask for the bullet back?

What do you think....would the police ever give it back, or would they have to keep it for evidence?

Copper thieves ripped off the cops now, I cant post the story because its copyrighted.

6-10 k worth of copper grounding bars from their radio tower, suspects at large , Greensburg, Ind.

LOL, it happened sometime between a couple of months, the thief was either black, white, asian, or indian, but possibly of hispanic descent.
