How much does a 55 gallon barrel full of coppers weigh?

How much does a 55 gallon plastic barrel weigh full of copper pennies? Anyone here know? Or how much does it take to fill a ton? Anyone know how much a 5 gallon bucket weighs and how much is in it?

I am a newbie hand sorter and haven't gotten a 5 gallon bucket yet...but for the future I'd like to start preparing for what I will do with them, and their weight will make all the difference.

I think we determined that a 55 gal drum will hold appr. 2000lbs (1 ton) and a 5 gal bucket appr. $300.

5 gal of pennies is HEAVY, more than I like to lift.

5 gal bucket is about $220......tested it at my local Da La RUE counter dump.

Thank you!! Although it makes me feel sad that I may not have as much as I thought, I had guessed a 5 gallon bucket might hold 320 dollars and I was almost half way into it....sigh....oh well, back to sorting!

i ran Cu through the counter and filled a 5 gal bucket...$250 fills the bucket however not level with the top about 1/2" from the top rim, I was able to get 30000 cents into a 5 gal bucket but the cents were trying to slide off the pile, however I could not move it being afraid it would split open.

I am still filling my barrel o pennies,but I think the consensus is 1 ton, 300K cents plus or minus 2500 cents

I had two hundred and fifty in a five gallon bucket, Then ended up moving. After moving when I opened it i could have gotten another forty to sixty in it. But no way. After the pain in the butt of moving it out of the old place and over to the new one, I broke it down into fifty dollar bags. Oh so much easier to handle.

I have an Ozarka water jug Im working on, may be 5 gallons.
Im pretty sure its going to be too heavy to lift when its full.
