For those of you who hoard but do NOT sell, what type of
storage containers do you use? I know some use water jugs
or 5 gallon buckets, but are there others that work well?
I use the "Tidy Cat Liter" jugs because of the handle at the top
of the plastic jug makes it easy to move. Holds about 85 pounds.

Also, do you store within your living space? Garage? Shed?

And is there any concerns about humidity?

I use 5 gallon here. kept in basement for now

I store in tubs that contained coleslaw or potato salad that my grocery store deli saves for me. They have tight fitting lids and filled to capacity weigh 52 pounds. They stack very nicely on a pallet and I keep them in my garage.

Frosting buckets. 5 gallon and 2 1/2 gallon.

I get them from the deli at work. I paid 20 for 50 buckets and lids. We sell them for a dollar each to help with stock loss. The manager will sell me a buggy full for 10 bucks.

5 gallon buckets for me.

i put $25 in an original penny box. you have to shake them and let them settle for it to fit. Then I seal it all the way around with tape. they stack like bricks.

i actually don't have enough empty boxes so i use whatever i have. i have some large blue coffee containers, plastic, i think those hold 30 or 35 fv. when i don't have containers, i put them in mylar envelopes in specific amounts like $10, and then seal them up. I only want to count them once.

I sort my COPPER, separating the Ugly Abes from the Clean COPPERs, pulling out the COPPER Canadians, and of course placing the Wheats aside carefully. I paper wrap and roll my COPPER. Then I put the 50 rolls back into the $25 box I get from the bank and then mark the outside of the box. The Clean COPPERs and Ugly Abes are boxed separately. I tape around the box to keep it sturdy. I put 6 (Brink's Boxes) or 7 (String Boxes) into a plastic 35lb kitty litter bucket which can be stacked. I'd suggest putting your COPPERs into a dry storage space; basements can be wet.

Im still trying to fill up my 8-10 gallon Ozarka jug.

I like the taped $25 box idea, stacked like bricks.

I'm the same as Country. I reroll and place in the original box, tape shut with blue tape to mark it as copper. They stack well and keep the area neat and clean where I store them. Thinking about going to coinlok bags next when my paper rolls run out. I was getting paper tubes at the office supply store by the 1000 for around 18 bucks but coinlok bags in $50 units size will be a little cheaper in the long run. Just not sure how high I can stack bags.

I also stack up $25.00 bricks. I have a rolling machine so I roll them up put them in new boxes and mark them copper. They stack real nice and actually it is kind of surprising how little space a ton of pennies takes when you stack up the $25.00 bricks.

I'm with Lemon Thrower and NDFarmer- pack 'em back in the $25 boxes, tape it up real good and stack 'em. One thing you have to consider (looking down the road) is weight. If I live to be 75 yrs old, I don't want to have to move around 50-75 lbs- and if I kick off before then and my wife has to mess with these things, I want it easier for her- 17 lbs/box is manageable. The only downside using the smaller boxes is that it is also easier for a thief to pick them up and haul them away. Guess I'll just chance it....

I use canvas bags 50 dollars per bag

$25 boxes and 5 gallon buckets then all into the 55 gallon barrel o pennies...hey LT, I have a boat load of boxes if you want them shoot me a PM and I will mail them to you. Sound reasoning on the smaller sizes I may need to do that once the goal of the barrel o pennies is full.

Reroll and then into 25 dollar boxes... then into a box in the closet marked christmas... throw some old garland on top and start on another box

Rubbermaid Totes do it for me;

since Canadian Pennies come in different Copper percentages I roll my pennies in the following categories:

1942-1977
1978-1979
1980-1981
1982-1996
Pre-1982 US

If I was american I would probably not even bother Rolling them...

I'm re-rolling and putting the coppers back in the 25 dollar box, taped with clear packing tape.

Advantages are ease of moving and an easy exact count. Storing the boxes is more space efficient than round or large containers.

Your percentage of copper is the same Its that they changed the weight of the Cent for you Canadians

Thanks for clearing that up Rosco. So I guess now it doesn't really matter if my Canadian Penny's are wrapped as the CU % is the same. Probably will still keep them rolled though...

. I fill five gallon buckets. They hold 200# which equals $300.00 each. The nice thing about using buckets is you can use a bead of silicone caulk on the lids and it makes them airtight and waterproof. They are also great to use for curling instead of using weights

Got a few of them .30 cal Ammo Cans. Stores $50 easily.

You know I'm Canadian when I was trying to figure out why you need weights to curl (I read curling as the "sport.")

Anyhow, I used to toss them into any pail, box, container or tub that I had around here. Now I have them wrapped and placed into plastic milk crates. The nice thing about them is that they weigh too much to move. If anybody ever broke in they would have to unpack each crate before carting them off. I used to worry about bricks (they are small enough to be carried away three or four at a time.) One day I will get a larger safe and curse myself when I try to move the crates of pennies...

What do you bench?

i use gallon size double ziploc bags, they hold 25#. i fill the first bag and get all the air out and seal it. i then put it in a second bag with the sealed ends on opposite sides. then use duct tape to seal the outer bag seal for a little added protection. they stack nice as well. i have 76 bags stacked in a 2x6 pattern so far and it looks pretty neat as well
