Cu Penny = Times Face Value

Postby IdahoCopper » Wed Jan 19, 2011 9:11 am

I want to make sure I've calculated correctly.

When this thread was posted, copper was $4.4180 per pound.

I'm using the weight of one Cu penny as 0.0065135 of a pound.

The math: =(0.0065135 x 100) x 4.4180

The result is Cu pennies are worth 2.8777 times face value.

Does that calculation seem correct to you guys?

I just let Coinflation do the math for me:

http://www.usacoinbook.com/coin-melt-values/

http://www.coinflation.com/coins/baseme ... lator.html

http://www.coinflation.com/unitedstates/

It also calculates the zinc content.

When copper is $4.43 we are at .0292 each.

I would call that 192% times face.

You probably knew of these sites, I will leave them here for any newbies.
My, you have a lot of coins! Please wait while we catch up.
