47 wheats in one cwr!

:D

I brought home 50 customer wrapped rolls (CWR) from the bank last night.

Most rolls had been about normal 20-25%.

One roll looked old and had the ends taped, I was a bit disappointed that it also was about normal.

BUT, one other roll that looked the same with the ends taped was quite a surprise.

When I opened it the 1st thing I noticed was a stell penny on the end, then I noticed almost the whole roll was that caramel chocklate brown, a noticable absence of shinty zinc.
Then I noticed 4 or 5 wheats!

So I ran it them through my sorter...

Boom, boom, boom..one after the other hitting my copper container.
Only 2 hit the zinc bin, a 1993 zinc and one other one. Not sure how they got in there...

The final tally was 48 wheats all of them in the 40s including 3 steels, 2 of which were in very good shape.

Someone had turned in a roll of 40 wheats as regular pennies!

The $25 worth of pennies ended up producing 55 wheats in the 40s and 50s, only 2 or 3 in the 50s. Also a 1967 dime and a canadian.

hahahhahahaha!

This was my best roll and box by far, and double my best wheat tally per box.

At 1st I thought..meh...these cwr's arent any different from the bwr's (bank wrapped rolls) but now Im a believer.

PS: Ive been pulling out my red Bu's (or close to unc) and have a beatiful red jug growing.
In the future if they do not bring a premium I will be surprised. And if I want to search for errors I will start there. In any case the RED jug is just pretty to look at.

I average a whopping 5 wheats per $25 box and you found 47 in one roll! You sure know how to make a guy feel bad. Just kidding, great find and it gives us members something to hope for during our sorting.

You must be a red neck when your water sking is the same as nascar, another left turn, and another left turn.

Great find. I had a similar experience with customer wrapped rolls. On one of my pick-ups, there were twelve rolls in the same older-looking wrappers. The contents were all pre-'82. One of the rolls had "old" written on it and proved to be a solid roll of wheats. There was nothing pre-'40 in it, but there was a steel cent. Nevertheless, it's exciting when you hit something like that.

thanks guys, it was exciting...

My last box had 1 wheat, a record low for me. Usually I get 5 or 10 per box.

For those who havent lucked out yet, keep going, its just a matter of time
before something really special shows up.

I would trade this 40 wheat roll for just one key date.

Market Harmony is going to have to update the cents in circulation, if you keep putting rolls like that. Very nice pickup.
