Yeah, not a bad segment. I'm amazed that it's news though, and viewed as odd. :)

:) I bet when they finally stop making them here (probably by the end of the decade), they DON'T do "the program," and they PROBABLY won't lift the ban for some time afterwards. I just have a feeling it will be their way of keeping the public either placated about the change, or - more likely - entirely unaware of the change. Placated because, as they will say, "they are still everywhere, and you can still use them every day."

And if that happens, I say the copper market still develops.

I'm glad they didn't mention RC.

Well, that's about the size of it. A gal like her, story investigator / interviewer that she is... I wonder what the chances are, of her actually seeing the value of this copper "mining" endeavor, rather than just putting the time into research, gaining a perfunctory understanding of why some people do it, getting the story done, shrugging and moving on to the next story. I don't mean to disparage her, just know it's very unlikely she will ingest any of the truth or reasoning from what she discovered. Right?

Oh, and for those two big words up there... here you go...

I don't think we'll hear from her again. She couldn't get anything crazy or sensational so the story is done. Thanks to all for posting the link to her story. I for one am glad she didn't mention RC. Falls into my category of "be careful what you wish for".

Hey this is on the local public radio station right now. Penny roll hunters are famous now even if Realcent is not. Better get while you can!

I still think the public at large would be way more enticed by a get-rich-quick scheme and will scoff at the 'labor intensive' efforts required by roll hunting methods. We can just keep capitalizing off others' laziness at present.

+1. Certainly. Labor intensive is basically what EVERYONE thinks this is, when I explain what it is I do.

Depends what you consider "labor". Handsorting is very time consuming and not very profitable at the moment (to say the least), but it's not difficult and doesn't really feel like labor.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

Right. Agreed 100%. But when I explain it to someone, they never think it's worth it. Because for THEM, it's labor, and doesn't pay off well, and blah blah blah
