These abused pennies were saved by Rainsonme they had been burned and cleaned. Rainsonme reported, "I found them all huddled together in 3 rolls of customer wrapped coins. The total count is one hundred twenty three 123 wheats, two Canada coppers, one memorial dated 1960, and three Indians.

The ASPCC (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Coins) spokesman reported, "At least one has a date that could not be read; a couple still had black fire gunk obscuring the date, which we did not bother to remove. The oldest wheat is 1913. We believe the Indians are 1884, 85, 86. There are three sad steel pennies among these mis-fortunates. We are looking for someone who will give these poor cents a good home, and not just throw them into the copper sack. They've been through a lot."

CopperNickel runs a home for wayward, stay, abandoned and abused coppers, and he took a gentleman's agreement to love and honor them. Rainsonme and others can visit them on display. They arrived at their new home via USPS on July 7, 2014. There they will be joined other ancient and abused coins, including one sad Canadian Copper, who could be recycled, but who still has life left.

These coins are looking forward to a long and prominent career teaching future generations about the dangers of burning, cleaning and car tires on coins.
