 I'll be weighing the 83's too from now on when I do my measly hand sorting.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Darn...and I was going to get you that as a surprise for your birthday yesterday, doc....

Where there's one, there's bound to be two or three or five. Just imagine what one graded MS63 or 64 would fetch.

One night a couple years back, after long hours hand sorting, I found an '83 that looked peculiar. I put it aside, finished the roll I was working on, then went to the kitchen countertop for my balance beam/scale. With a shiny new 2011 as my counterweight I placed the '83 on the other side and it sank like an anchor.

A few heart palpitations later I realized I grabbed the wrong penny. Aaaarrrrgggg!!

I hand sort and since I set the 1982s aside to weight them I do the same for the 1983s. No luck yet, but you just never know. Also have been throwing the 1983-P in a pile to check for double die at some time in the future.

I predict this goes for over $25k. I saw one mentioned in one of the coin magazines a few years ago that was in better condition and went for over $100k.

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

I have only been saving the 83P cent to check for double die because I am already seperating them to check weight.

The article talks about a 1983 Jefferson nickel struck on a bronze planchet - http://coins.ha.com/itm/errors/1983-d-5 ... 143-5579.s .... wonder what that baby went for?

What did this end up selling for? How much was the buyers fee on top of that? I don't want to have to provide my personal info to Heritage to sign in and see it, so if someone else already has a login ID and password and can pass the amount onto the rest of us, that would be appreciated.
