Recent finds?

Postby newton7 » Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:50 am

Here is what the Ryedale spit out this week. I have never seen one cleanly punched straight through. Must of been a press or die cutter or something.

I've seen a couple members here with a cross cut out of a cent. And, TXBullion sent me a smiley face cleanly cut out. These might be school projects or just practice with some type of cutting device. Either way they are an interesting find as long as they are zincs!

Well just searched thru 1,000 pennies, got 153 coppers, 4 of which were wheats. But best of all i found a dime in one of the rolls, no big deal right, well it was a 1960 dime. WOO HOO what are the odds

Good job on the dime! I've found many dimes sorting pennies, but no silvers... yet! I've found a penny with a cross cut out before, and a mason stamped penny, but mine was stamped differently than yours.

Looks uneven like it was hit with an acid maybe. Is it really that light in color compaired to other zincs or is it your lighting by the camera?

This is an error coin....I think called either a capped die or grease filled die error.
A neat coin...I like the unusual error coins like that too.

The rough looking surface looks like some post mint damage (PMD)! Acid maybe? Not an expert at all.

Its funny though.. the rim is perfect all around it.. wonder if anyone else has any idea...guess it will go in the ever growing "neat coin" pile..
I also found a Zimbabwe 1995 1 cent(or whatever they call it) Bet it is worth a couple million :D
