On August 8th I visited a Bank of America branch in a middle income neighborhood. I was there for something else, but asked the teller if she had any old or unusual coins of interest. She said she had $10 face in pennies that someone had brought in that I might want. I checked one roll and it was an Uncirculated roll from the early 60's. Since she had another $4 face as well, I took the entire $14.
I just went through these coins last night.
Of the $4 in CWR's, there were 63 coppers, a bit more than 15%- no big deal.
Of the other $10, 961 of the 1,000 pennies were Unc. coppers from 1959 through 1964. But the neat part is that the other 39 coins were all BU 1955-S wheats- and that is a better date as well.
It felt like I turned back the clock 50 years!
