Crucifix cent

Postby Investin Cents » Wed Oct 29, 2014 2:53 am

OK, like they say, "now I have seen everything".

Found this in a bag of cents last night.

I didn't think it belonged in the cent tracking forum. And I searched under "cross" - 16 pages or more with the word "cross" in the post and only 2 posts with the word "crucifix" - none with this. And I saw some other weird or strange cent pics posted here. So here it is.

Anyone else seen this?

It weighs in at 2.2 grams, so a nice chunk of it is missing.

Thoughts???

Thanks!

I found one a few years back. I think it is fun and keep it close.
Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

Here's mine from a few years back. Probably the largest amount of metal I've seen removed from a circulating coin.

I have about 50 punched cents right now. From time to te they sell to collectors, but for the most part they are giveaways when I sell a box, bag, or small lot of errors.

Yea I would call these punched coins vs. counter stamped ones. But lots of either one to be found!

It's interesting that the configuration of the cross is such that Lincoln is "bearing the cross". Carrying it on his shoulder. Very intriguing.

Stack like mad friends.

i have seen these at estate sales glued to cards given away by churches, usually with a prayer on the card, or a remembrance card for a passed away loved one, or a 1st communion souvenir

Have to say that's a new one on me. I've seen just about every other odd thing come out of coin rolls or counter magnets.
