Four Indians arrived today

Postby TwoAndAHalfCents » Tue Nov 25, 2014 1:50 am

The holiday season is upon us so I thought I would start picking up pennies this week to see if more copper would be showing up as people empty their piggy banks. At one branch I was able to get $10 worth - seven customer wrapped rolls and the rest from Loomis. When I opened up the first CWR roll this evening there was not one but two Indian cents. There was a third one in the second roll. By the fifth roll I found the fourth Indian. There was even a really beat up 1911-S wheat cent in the mix. Not bad for just $3.50 in cents. The Loomis rolls even had two dimes. Here's a breakdown of what was inside the CWRs:

Indians
1889, 1901, 1906 x2

Wheats
1911-S
1914
1916
1920-S x2
1928-D
1940 x2
1940-D
1940-S x21 (yes, twenty-one of these)
1946-S
1947-S
1949-S x3
1950-D
1951-S
1955-S Nice AU

Memorial
1959-1981 - 43
1982 - 2

268 total zinc

Canada
1961 very nice AU/BU

Nice score. It has been several years since I got a wild indian. Just looking at the pics of yours got me excited. I have several bags set aside. Hope to score some Indians in those.

Four Indian cents and a bunch of S mint wheats all within just seven rolls. It was a piece of someone' collection that I just picked up. The teller said those seven were all she had in CWRs. Had I known what was inside I would have asked for CWRs in all the other denominations. I may have to wait until next week before I have a chance to pay that branch another visit.

Old bat just buried him.

You need to go back and get all the coin she deposited.
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

I went yesterday for more. There were no more CWRs for cents. I got the only ones they had on Monday. They had one CWR of nickels and seven CWRs of dimes. Those rolls yielded a 1945-P war nickel. Probably not part of the same collections that Indians came from but at least I got a little silver.
