22 NO D Whats it worth?

Not real big into values other than metal content but looked up what some of these wheats i come across are worth and noticed that a 22 no D was not to bad and thought i remembered seeing one so i started looking through my huge wheat pile, about an hour later found it. I am a Ryedale sorter so i just set aside the wheats when one catches my eye. Lucky i noticed this one Not looking to hold on to it probably list it on what everyone calls feebay soon what u think its worth? Been wanting to post a pic on here haven't had time, but blizzard here has bought me a week so i decided i would go ahead and become a member yesterday

You grade them based on the wear of the reverse as the obverse usually shows weakness. There is also a Weak-D variety that is worth much less.

Just noticed the tail on the nine does not show up in pic but the entire number is very clear in person and I cannot see any sign of a d at all

You might want to post it on the 2011 find list http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3180 not a one was found in 2010 and not a one yet in 2011. If it is real its worth some money . My book has a hole for it. I have heard that some times the d get ground off to make a 22p.

Great find! Why sell it on eBay when you could hold an auction here? I'm sure that there will be interest as many members have sets and nearly all of those sets have a hole for the 22 no D. I'm sure that an auction here will be vibrant.

First off I would send it to PCGS to get it graded. There are 3 different die varities and only Type 2 is worth good money. If it comes back a type 2 than you are looking at a $600+ coin easily.

Die Pair #2:
• Absolutely no trace of a D
• Second 2 in date is sharper than the first 2.
• All letters in TRUST are sharp.
• WE is only slightly mushy.
• L in LIBERTY butts up against the rim.
• Reverse is sharp with nice wheat lines.



Since the coin is so worn its going to be hard to make an accurate judgement. There is only a slight variety in whats mushy and very mushy and whats sharp and not sharp. The second 2 is defintly stronger than the first so thats a great start!

That looks like the real deal to me. As much as I hate to say it, send it in to be graded & authenticated by one of the top graders...PCGS, Anacs or NGC
Ebay bidders will more then make up for the cost with the confidence that it is real.

What! How do you just... What, no way just stumbled across a 1922 no D. I would have been flying on a copper high for a week off if I stumbled into a 22 no D. Umm congrats that is a major find if it checks out. Let one of us have a shot at it if you want to sell. There are a couple of trusted members on here that could probably send it off for you for a nominal fee. Umm Umm Umm sure you didn't bump into a half ounce of gold in a penny bag too and toss that to the side I am envious for sure.

STINGER welcome to the realcent crazy world... muther hubbard, many of us have sorted hundreds of thousands or even millions and not come across a no d 22, 'cept for me I have found 3....problem is i can only make out the first three digits...that last digit is elusive.... yep what bman said...I would use NGC but the others will work, just use one of THOSE three for some serious coin return. I would defintly stick with PCGS over any other company. The best way to send it in is to take it to a coin dealer who is a PCGS member. You will fill out paperwork and get a reciept from the dealer. Depending on the dealer and how many other coins he is sending in it should cost between $50-75, which is well worth it to verify that its a $600+ coin.
