Are you saying ten thousand two hundred thirty two pounds? 10,232 lbs. Wouldn't that be about 1,493,872 cents?

yeah there is 146 copper pennies per pound.

it seems to me that for some reason periods are sometimes used on the internet instead of commas. :?

You are absolutely right I dont know how I came with that figure. 597 boxes 2500 in each box 1.492.500 I think is correct. The weight is right I believe still not too bad for hand sorting.

I have sorted just shy of one million pennies. With an average yield somewhere around 17% that would be 170,000 copper pennies pulled from circulation

I've pulled around 700,000 coppers out of circulation, most of which I've sold.
That's about 2.5M sorted averaging 28%.
Another year or so and I should reach 1M coppers!

At one point had roughly $500 face (50,000 cents) set aside, but ended up selling or dumping some (storage weight and to a lesser extent space were becoming an issue). I wish now that I had kept those. :(
