Would you buy locally for 1.5X?

My "no" is because I sort. If I wasn't I would.

Sure-it's still bullion at 50% off, and saves me the time of sorting (time, after all, is the most finite of resources).
1.8x is where I draw the line, though- at least for now.

My "yes" is conditional. If I lost my full-time job and needed to step up my intake and output, I would buy at 1.5x. For now, I will not sell anything...just hoard.

Definitely. So long as I don't exceed my self imposed ratio of 50/50 buy/sort.

. I casted a no vote. I collect mostly for fun, with the long term investment position. If I was to purchase anything it would be silver.

That's funny.. Many months ago I sold a significant amount of coppers at 1.5 to another member here.. and he paid me in zincs.

lol really? that makes it sound more promising then! I picked up a car to flip last week and told the guy I would take it if he took half in pennies. Got ridof $600 in zinkers that day

There was a similar poll a few weeks back and while less specific (didn't ask if it was local) the dividing line seemed to be more around the 1.3x mark. I voted for 1.25. For 1.25x local, I would gladly give up sorting and buy from another. Above that it gets progressively more murky but at about 1.5x I'm at a point where I would generally prefer to sort than buy.

I'm probably an outlier here, but I've bought about 20 boxes between 1.5x and 1.65x in the past couple of months, in addition to running the coin artist when I can. Demand was high after Christmas time, it was hard to find them at 1.65x shipped then, but demand (and prices) have come down a bit since then. 1.55x is probably pretty do-able right now. So if I was buying them locally, 1.45 in cash, or 1.5 in zincs, would be A-OK by me.

Nice move paying for 1/2 a car in zincs - I gotta try that!

misteroman, I would buy locally at 1.5 . Even better if you could do it with zincs. Let me know if he has more than you need as i would consider the trip up your way.

I paid for a pizza with pennies one time. I dont think the pizza guy was to happy either, but I told him thats all I had. Not much he could do. I gave him and extra few rolls of pennies and told him not to spend it all in one place.

My answer was no. I enjoy hand sorting looking for errors, wheats ect.

Not at this time I am sorry but I still can get 50% more by searching myself.

I have bought more than $2000 FV at 1.3X or less, most of that with shipping, so no I will not pay 1.5X. I'm as cheap as they come.

I voted no but mostly because I just got an apprentice. My job is seasonal and I'm trying to sort alot before work picks up.

After I go back to work I will probably buy more, and I have a source local.

Whats the plan mister o man? junkyard motor? I bought a 96 F150 w/ bad trans for 4 bills...put in a salvaged trans for $75, drove it for a couple of months then sold it for 15 bills.

engine at a local yard for 300-325. probably about 400 in labor and new fluids. flip for 28-3200. Would never usually pay that much but knew the kid and was trying to help him out

I actually flip alot but don't usually like engine jobs
