$250 to spend copper or silver

Postby lewbo » Thu Mar 17, 2011 9:59 pm

I have some free cash this month, what is better buy copper pennies or silver dollars? I few years ago would have been much better to buy silver, I think but now I do not know.
Selling US pennies 1.9 face shipped. Never mind I am keeping everything!

I'd buy ETFs...just kidding!

I'm no pro but I think I'd go for new silver. Check eBay, perseverance pays off. Many times you can find silver for under spot.

Good Luck!!!

If you mean buy already sorted copper pennies, then I would buy silver under spot. If you mean purchase pennies from bank, and sort them; the latter is a good foundation of PM's. It all depends on what you already have. If you possess alot of copper; diversify and buy silver. Also you could buy some good gold at that price as well.

Silver dollars have a premium attached to them unlike 90%. Plus there are a lot of fake silver dollars out there... Silver is liquid, whereas copper pennies are a long term hold.....choose wisely .. wish I had such a dilemma....

I would buy 90% silver coins. You should be able to get a couple rolls of dimes.

Id say $100 silver now, $50 copper and hold onto to the other $100 in hopes of a dip. Then again you could just go $200 silver immediately, considering a flucation of a dollar or two isnt going to DRASTICALLY affect a purchase of $200.

my two cents.

For the short term I would recommend 90% junk silver coins (if you want silver in the form of coins) and for the long term I'd recommend copper. :D

Since the crash of '08 silver has outperformed gold, and copper has outperformed siver. Note: I said copper, not brass.

I would buy U.S. 90% silver coins. They are the safest bet right now. If you are really feeling bold... befriend a local sheet metal shop and buy up their scrap copper sheetmetal, it's #1 copper.

Hahahahahaha. Does she sort? If so, what would that cost to ship?

Step 1 Purchase $225 in Silver. Buy from someone here for spot. wait for it to go TO THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Step 2 Purchase a $25.00 box of cents, sort and return until they are all 95%.
Step 3 Sell that box on Ebay for $50.00.

Yeah, but maintenance costs are usually much higher.
