Found a 1972 Double Die DDO-1

Postby ZigMeister » Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:09 am

Found a rare one Whoo! Whoo!

Searched $102 in CWRs and low and behold this was there...Boy was I excited (still am). It was 5 AM and I was doing a search yielding an extremely large amount of Cu (turned out to be 86.4% for a total of 8813 Cu out of 10200).

Awesome. I'm learning that it is worthwhile to check all 1972 cents. On the ddo1 the secondary image is spread clockwise to the primary.
I recently found one that was opposite that and turned out to be machine doubling :( The underlieing date had flat surfaces.
Hope you have a winner there, looks to be in good shape from the pictures, could be worth several hundered dollars :)

You should go back to where you picked up those rolls and clean them out! Take all their wrapped coins.Last time I ran into those high precentages
it was a old lady who turned in her recently passed husbands collection.

I did get everthing...I posted the story in the tracking threads section under copper penny hand sorting.

It is worth in the $250-400 range.

Congrats!

Every time I find what I think is a DD it turns out to be machine doubling. And, to add insult, they usually tell me it is a beautiful machine doubled coin. Just not worth anything.

Congrats again! Keep looking for more. There's treasure out there just waiting to be found.

Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. :geek:
