Story of the day.

Postby cwgii » Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:32 pm

Last week at one bank, I did not have enough money to get all the coin.
. so today I make a special trip to town. They shipped it out, yesterday.

Next place I get $1 P, $18 N, $45 D.
Next $1 P, $16 N,$10 H ,$5 SBA.

Now for the fun part.
Went to a branch that is out of my normal area . like its been, 10 years.
The assistant manager hears my request and says, how much. He had forgotten to ship his coin yesterday.

$1300 .

He even sold me bags out of the coin counter.
Wowie.

He said that, last week,, a little old lady came in to get rid of the old mans coins.....I know we have all heard that one.
He helped her dump bags of silver, wheats, Indians. He tried to argue with her.to no avail.

And that's part of how we can still find old coins.

I’m anxious to hear what you end up finding!
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

Please note that ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- sometimes substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) as well.

I wish you great hunting! Please report back.

But I can't help feeling sad for the man that obviously spent years collecting coins of intrinsic and collectible value only to have that effort and his memory disrespected by the dumping of the coin at face. (Presuming she was of sound mind, and if not, where were their family and friends to protect her sound decision making?)

Holy cow! Did you walk away with much silver? I mean, old wheats and indians are loads of fun, but silver is serious!

So, you are saying he knowingly shipped out silver coins, wheats and Indians?

Wow. I cannot imagine working in a bank and ever shipping out silver. But, at the same time, I've seen employees not even know what they were handing me, so I guess it makes sense.

Have you had a chance to go through any of the coins? What have you found so far?

I have posted my results.
Nothing too special. Though the pennies were higher than usual.
I dummied up on the nickels, not marking what ones were cwr or bags. A few buff and war.

2 silver dimes.

Since the silver rich bags were sent out the week before , I really did not expect much.
