I was at my dump bank (because they have a free coin counter). I was cashing in the ticket at the teller when I heard the machine start up again. I looked around and there was an old woman dumping a jar of coins into the machine. I wanted to cry.

Unfortunately the bank doesn't get the coins. They go straight into the Mint's (dreaded) Alloy Recovery Program.

TD Bank has them in some of their branches. The two in Toronto that have them are at Danforth and Coxwell (actually on Danforth one block east of Coxwell) and Royal York and Summercrest (?) two blocks north of Eglinton West.

Last I heard they had ten branches across the country that had them, but naturally I have never seen a list of them.

They are free to use officially (but I have my doubts about how well they actually count).

I've got a line on some incredible coin counters that are identical in size and function to the Semacon S-120. The actual machine is called the Billcon CVK-70. These machines are identical so I think Semacon likely bought out Billcon or something. They count batches too, so you can put a penny funnel on them and batch 50 a time into shotgun rolls. Very very fast re-boxing process. I can buy them for $200 from the manager of a bankrupt casino that bought them all at the bancruptcy auction (they originally cost about $900). They are heavy though, so to ship them very far would probably cost $50. Let me know if you want one and I can go pick it up.
