I like nickels, but they don't test well. :)

nickel testing is a subject I need to know more about, seriously. Has anyone dabbled with the content of the supposed .999 Ni nickels or what? My father worked in the shipyards on the gulf coast. He said "Nickel is magnetic." I gave him one of these Ni nickels, and show no magnetism, and he can't explain it. How do you change the metallic structure of a metal to make it non-magnetic? Or is my pop totally wrong.

Make sure of your dates. Every .999 nickel I have seen has been magnetic.

If it was cupronickel (1982-1999, most 2000, some 2001, some 2006) they are not magnetic.
