That's in tons.

In other words, about 20 lbs for every man woman and child on the planet.

Where is Great Britain in respect to its gold holdings? Have they depleted them that much?

There was the big sale of gold around May 2002. I found a report buried in the Bank of England website:

http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov. ... es_617.pdf (this report is for 2007 reserves)

that states that England as about 4.2 billion british pounds worth of gold. You have to do the conversion to get to the ounces.

4.2 billion times 1.6 (to the dollar) and divided by 1300 (dollars to the ounce) = 5,169,230 ounces (rough estimate)

Is it just me or is the production going up about 100 faster per thousand than the reserves dropping? This chart is a great chart but it needs more information. How is the reserves calcutated? Is the production included in the reserves? What sources are making the reserves drop. ect ect ect.

Great link though.

Intresting. Must be how short the Silver funds are. Given that data if their comes a day if people significantly dump there Paper Silver shares.... Silver Price will drop, hard.

All of these natural resources are probably subject to Hubbert's curve, which says once peak production is reached, the declining output will be much more expensive. There is a whole lot of silver and gold and copper prodcution coming on line soon from BC Canada, and elsewhere. I like some of these junior mining stocks in BC ---- but they are all going to be VERY expensive to produce, much more so than the easy mines that are now depleting. So, even if the resource is still in the ground, the price of extraction may go way up. Take a look on the web of the giant copper mine in Utah (Bingham mine); they started out finding large rocks of solid copper on the surface; they have now gouged out a huge hole deep into the earth to get very low grades of copper.

I was surprised that lithium seems to be quoted in (troy?) ounces too. I was reading recently about alloys of magnesium and lithium that have densities as low as 1.4 g/cc, which seems to be pretty close to as light as it gets for structural metals. I guess the more obvious use of lithium is for batteries though. It would be cool to see an expanded version of that table with dollar values and more metals listed.

Interesting site. Thanks for sharing. It was striking how low (relatively) the nickel reserves were. Industrial use for nickel is suppose to be down, but for us "nickel bugs" the lower availability holds promise.

It is very interesting with some of the metals how even after years and years of consumption being higher than production they STILL haven't caught up to demand. Either prices just haven't gone up enough to justify, or there might be half way genuine shortages that might come around for some of them. I hope the silver production never keeps up with demand... It will work wonders for my bank account (or hidden in box account if you want to be technical)!

I predict the supply of FRN's to exceed the supply of silver.

Neat site to say the least, but it's no very accurate, because we do not know all supplies coming out of Communistic countries. They wouldn't tell anybody their supplies.
