Not sure, but it was a) not that much - 1% for silver, b) local to pacific markets, c) affected gold as well and all PMs to some extent, and d) the peak wasn't sustained but it did raise the baseline a little bit.

That's the right idea. Or to front run an anticipated USD change because of the Fed. Or to front run the latest monthly inflation report, which did drop the USD at 830am but that USD change didn't change PMs much (probably because the change was front run last night then moderated).

Go back to late 2010 and early 2011 and pull up some daily charts... you'll see some really large upward moves.
Then do the same after April 2011... some huge ugly drops all the way into mid-2013.

There was a guy who figured out that there was a time pattern to the manipulations.
If I recall correctly, the price would rise overnight in Asia and then get hammered as soon as the NY futures market opened.
