I went through a long drought myself. But if you're already in the store, you should always check unless someone is using it.

In the Coinstar in our local grocery store reject chute of dreams:
One dime
One nickel
12 pennies, 2 of which are 95% copper
And... One 1964 quarter.
It's been a while.

That quarter is an excellent find! Worth at least six dollars.

I have found plenty of 90% dimes before, but quarters are so rare. Really made my day. I'll take $6 any day except I'm not selling.

Foreigns are indeed the rock stars of 2025 so far with Canada leading the charge, averaging $1.67 a month. Thru April I am less than a twonie away from passing my all time one-year record ($8.30) that has stood for six years. Another potential record breaker this year is the fastest I've gotten to $3.65 (a penny a day) in my apartment complex parking lot finds. In 2023 I achieved it by June 17th so let's hope my neighbors keep up their carelessness!

April totals (2025 totals)

1¢ - .29 (.78)
5¢ - .25 (.75)
10¢ - .90 (3.40)
25¢ - 2.75 (7.00)

The local one was empty. I'm tempted to stop checking it bc I feel like a shady looking employee there is snatching up the rejects.

Nice guys get shafted.

Guy was going to the CU with a jug of pennies.

I followed a minute later. He is standing there , gawking at the counter. First time
. He was ,,,cashing them all in, before they were,,,, worthless.
So, I show him how it works. He then starts putting them in, 10-20 at a time. Let's it run. Then goes again well that gallon jug was going really slow. I asked if he really had to save the jug, or could I cut the top off. You would have thought I wanted to cut ,his, head off. And proceeded to take 15 more minutes. Since he had,,dirty coin, and iticked up the machine. Teller came to clear it. And he continues.

Lol. Finally my turn. Well his gunk made it jam for me too. Meanwhile he walks in with another jug.
I think today was really Monday.

Ah, he left 11 coins in the reject. A junk copper, 9 zinkolas and ...., a 1939

Yowza, what a month! This was my 8th best US total and the 10th time I've cracked $10 in one month in found change. My quarter total for May was more than the first four months combined! Silver even made a long-awaited appearance too. But the real story are the foreigns which keep heading for record territory. Fifteen different countries this month, including ten new ones for the year, and two new all-timers. The sky's the limit on what everything will look like at year's end. Can't wait to find out.

May totals (2025 totals)

1¢ - .35 (1.13)
5¢ - .25 (1.00)
10¢ - 2.90 (6.30)
25¢ - 7.50 (14.50)
Total - 11.00 (22.93)

Included in May's total - 1937, 1951-S wheaties; 1964-D dime, 1943 & 1944 quarters

Since you guys have helped me with SO MANY THINGS, here's a chance for me to give back some..

I find foreign coins at CS machines and elsewhere, and we all know that if you're not near the country, and not planning a trip, they are basically worthless.

At some point I decided to put them in 2x2s and put them out at yard sales for .25 each. I clearly write on the 2x2 what country they are from and that's it.

On Saturday, at our community yard sale, a woman bought up every single one I had. My wife helped the lady so I didn't get the why, but whatever the case, it gave me pocket money from coins that were otherwise worthless. Hope this helps!!
