My well trained wife came home from Kroger today, fished in her pocket and handed me a 1956 Roosevelt dime. Grabbed it out of the coinstar reject tray. WOOOOO HOOOO!

My 14 year old son pulled a 1964 Rosie out at the beginning of the summer.

Gotta love it.

Keep stacking!

1966 French 1 franc
1984 Jefferson nickel

The franc is the size of a quarter and stuck to the magnet in my pocket (I know I,'m not the only one with a good magnet in my pocket!) I assume its 999 nickel.

My son asked
"Don't they use nickel for weapons Dad?"
I told him " Yes most governments do. But, I think the French stopped because their soldiers were weaklings!"
"Really Dad?"
" Yup. They more often than not, would drop their rifles instead of lifting and aiming them. They must have been too heavy!"
"So, they put the nickel into their coins?"
"Yup"
"They were stupid too,Dad"

Not a Coin Star machine, but close enough...

Went to a bank yesterday where I have an account, but don't get to real often. They just installed a counter in the lobby - decided to give them a try - as I am considering using it as a possible future dump bank - wanted to see how much hassle I'd get from the tellers - not being a regular customer, etc.

A check of the reject bin produced 3 dimes - sadly - all clad, but they were free.

So then I dumped my bag of dimes - $44.30 worth. Got $43.80 counted, the rest was rejected - looked at the all the rejects, couldn't see anything wrong.

No hassle w/ the tellers - just told them I had an account, they didn't even check - just handed over the cash.

Checked out some shopping at ChinaMart. Went by the CoinStar machine on the way out.
Spotted a couple of coins in the reject tray. A 63 and a 64 dime.
Good day.

Dumped some coins @ noon - spread the dump out across 3 bank branches and 2 credit union branches....Given 5 counters, all I managed out of the reject bins was 1 chewed up Zinc, and a pop can tab.

At the banks dumping coin today (I spread my stuff out)...

Bank #1 produced:

1950 German 5 Pfennig

2009 Bahamas 1 cent coin

2010 Canadian nickel

Not sure about this last one - maybe a coin, maybe a token.....brass/gold color, about the size of a quarter,
has a lion with its mouth open on side, a Imapla or antelope on the other, with the number 10. There is some
sort of lettering on both sides, but its Arabic or Asian style charters.

Bank #2 produced 4 Lincolns - 3 zinc, 1 copper.

Hobofinds

Many thanks for the link. I've got a 10 cent coin per the web site. I tryed to decode the date per the instructions on the site, but couldn't
match up any of the characters I found on the coin to the instructions. The coin I have pretty much matches the 3 pictures on the site, and they are dated 1977 - 2010.

I dump my pennies at the local bank. They have a coin scan machine. You need to look under the tray. Dimes work their way in there. I have gotten a free dime that last tow times I was there.

Edit: you may need a pen or something thin to fish it out. It is a tight space.

At the credit union this afternoon, running zincs thru the counter. Saw something shiney on the floor under the machine, as I was walking out - stopped and looked, found $.25 US :), but unfortuneately, it was clad :(.

Once outside, I found a pennie on the sidewalk - a '71 - so :)
