I was hoping to get the companion box to last weeks half box in this week's shipment. Didn't happen though. Then the bank told me they were cutting back my weekly order at that branch from 2 boxes to 1 box per week. Seems they have very limited vault space and with the couple bags of quarters the one merchant drops off every week and my halves and pennies, they don't have enough space. I convinced them to kill my penny boxes instead.. and keep me at 2 boxes of halves every week. Didn't do me much good this week, since the #2 box was a dud and killed my silver streak.

I feel we have hit either a low point in members reporting their searching, or we are searching at much as we were earlier this year.

Just look at the reports from 3/10 to now. Interesting stuff. I for one believe we are all sorting just as much as ever, it's just not being disclosed ;)

I sorted $440 in string rolls.... SKUNK

They came in a normal box, but with 6 rolls short. I was trying to figure out why this may be? Is there a method of sorting that just weighs rolls and picks rolls out, and leave the others behind for ease of returning to the dump bank?

If my thought is true is this method reliable for hunting silver? :?:

Thanks

Are you sure the Mexico 50c is 1952? The last SILVER 50c was in 1951. In 1955, Mexico changed their 50c to bronze.

From what country is the 1 Franc ?

I think it's a bit of both. I know my SILVER finds are much less than earlier in the year. Also, there were some outstanding finds then by 12kHz and others; multiple 100+ SILVER boxes and bags. However, a case can be made that there is less reporting here in this thread as the novelty may have worn off a bit. :)

The latest SILVER stats for October have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update.

I dumped a small pail of pennies today and the machine had at least two cups of coins in the reject chute. (the feed pipe was angled uphill to the reject tray)
I bring a bit of hanger wire with a hook to help me get the coins.
A coin machine bank demon lady pounced, hovered and scolded. I had lifted the basket to get the bunch on the magnet and she had a fit.
She also told me I should alway ask for help when removing coins from the reject tray on the front of the machine which was just her way of trying to give me a smackdown for my bit of wire. She has no choice but to give me the coins when it's my turn on the machine. She wasn't going to like a prepared customer.

I was as cheerful as the sun though and had my pile of new coins which was mostly four big handfuls of dimes plus about 10 bucks Canadian quarters.

The teller had a 64 Kennedy in her tray which I now have as she had no idea it was silver.

A fun few minutes on the way home from shopping.

Forgot to mention while dumping my last 4 boxes I went to a CU I visit frequently and attempted to dump my coins. For some reason the machine was erroring on half dollars and kept rejecting the halves. Frustrated because I had driven a long way out of the way to dump here I grabbed my coins from the reject slot only to find a nice little gold chain. It is broken on both ends so no id on the karat of the gold but it appears to be a nice quality. Its about 5-6 inches long. Not bad finding gold during dump runs...

Well this is my first post here on this thread. I have quite a few boxes of halves under my belt but I will just give my totals for the last few weeks. My question for you.. since you are from CA.. where there is a paucity of lobby coin counting machines.. How do you dump so many halves? Perspiring minds want to know.

Right now I just go to a [shucks] ton of banks. However I am in the process of setting up an account with Brinks, Guarda or Loomis so that I can dump directly with them. I don't think anyone in my area does this because I always ALWAYS get funny looks and questions when I dump and if someone were doing it they wouldn't need to ask. Seriously I probably have 2 to 300 Banks that I dump at. I figure the money they will charge me to dump would probably be around the same that I spend in gas driving all over my county.
